When I first started out with underwater photography I had a very simple Sony point and shoot camera.  I just used it on “auto” mode and that was it.  As I upgraded towards my current setup the cameras have had a huge increase in functionality and the features they offer.

This choice can be quite confusing and I’ve spent a lot of time trying to understand these settings better, both through trial and error underwater and by researching articles in magazines and online.

Here’s a selection of underwater photography tips and links to articles that I have found useful, and will hopefully help you in getting the most out of your camera, whether it’s a basic point and shoot or the latest SLR with external strobes.
